Aldous grew up in England and received his PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge University, specializing in the historical influence of China on English garden design and architecture. His fascination with chinoiserie developed through frequent visits to English country houses and European palaces where the ever-adapting style has been used to create highly imaginative and incredibly beautiful rooms and garden pavilions
